Accessibility at Parliament
​​​​We are committed to ensuring everyone can access Parliament. If you have accessibility requirements not detailed here, contact us online or call (02) 9230 2111 between 9am and 5pm on Monday to Friday except on public holidays.

Arriving at and leaving Parliament House
Parliament House is at 6 Macquarie Street, Sydney. Follow this link for directions and transport options to and from Parliament House.

Security screening
All visitors enter Parliament from Macquarie Street via a security screening station. If you have accessibility requirements that affect how you undergo security screening, please advise the security officers when you arrive.

For people who use wheelchairs or with mobility disabilities
There is ramp and lift access from the Macquarie Street entrance to Reception on level 7. Security officers will direct you to the entrance and a staff member will meet you and escort you into the building.

Parliament House has:

• flat access to the Macquarie, Jubilee, McKell and Preston Stanley Rooms on level 7
• flat access to the Public Café and Strangers Dining Room on level 7
• flat access to the Theatrette on level 6
• accessible lifts from Reception on level 7
• carpets with a short, dense pile.

People who use wheelchairs or with mobility disabilities who wish to attend Question Time or other proceedings in the chambers should advise the Houses’ front desk staff. To avoid delays call the Legislative Council on 02 9230 2319 or the Legislative Assembly on 02 9230 2219 before your visit so we can assist with accessibility requirements.

For people who are blind or visually impaired
There is signage with raised lettering in some areas of the publicly accessible areas of Parliament House.

NSW Parliament House also offers BindiMaps, an accessible wayfinding app providing audio, map and text directions to public areas like the Long Bell Café, toilets and Strangers’ restaurant. It guides wheelchair users and those with vision impairments along safe routes. Download the free BindiMaps app​ today to explore the precinct with ease.

For people who are hearing-impaired, deaf, deaf-blind or have a speech impairment
Parliament House has fitted induction loops in the :

Parliamentary Theatrette

The National Relay Service is an Australia-wide phone service that can assist with contacting the Parliament.

Hearing loops are available on request.

Guide dogs and assistance animals
We welcome guide dogs and other assistance animals at Parliament House. Please ensure you have your animal’s accreditation pass available to present to staff on entry.

Accessible toilets
There are accessible public toilets on levels 6 and 7 at Parliament House. A Changing Places facility is available.

Facilities for parents
There is a baby change room on level 7 with comfortable chairs, a change table, a sink and a microwave.

Parking for people with disabilities
Please be aware there is no disability parking available for the general public attending events at NSW Parliament House.

People with a Mobility Parking Scheme Permit visiting Parliament to participate in committee proceedings, attend functions or as guests of members may be able to arrange accessible parking, space permitting. All requests for parking must be made well in advance through the appropriate committee department, member, or function organiser.
People with car-parking bookings must be met in the carpark and escorted by a staff member into the Parliament building.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Parliament is proud to have joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program. Wearing the Sunflower is a way for you to voluntarily indicate you have a hidden disability or health condition and might need extra help, understanding, or just more time.

We encourage you to wear your Sunflower lanyard when attending Parliament. You can also collect one at our Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council reception desks to wear during your visit.

NSW Parliament staff wearing Sunflower supporter badges have been trained to recognise the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower symbol and will help if needed.​If you would like to discuss your needs before your visit, please contact us online or call (02) 9230 2111.

Accessibility Car Parking

People with a current Mobility Parking Scheme Permit visiting Parliament may arrange accessible parking, subject to availability on the day. All requests for parking must be made well in advance. A current Mobility Parking Scheme Permit sticker must be clearly visible on the vehicle.

To request accessible parking at NSW Parliament, please complete the below form and enter submit. Parliament House security may take up to 7 days to reply. Request can not be made within 5 days.
