About the Artist
John Stewart is a ceramicist from Clunes which is a small town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, located approximately 18 km northeast of Lismore.
A forth generation dairy farmer, John has been teaching and making ceramics and pottery since 1972. John’s passion for native flora and fauna is reflected in his photography which is used to create the decals for the innovative ceramic designs. Using earthenware or porcelain, the ware is fired, glazed and fired a third time to adhere the decal. The range includes unique vases, soap dishes, fridge magnets, cork backed coasters and porcelain travel cups. The finished work is elegantly packed in individually designed cardboard boxes.
