Rum Hospital to Parliament – The Story of New South Wales Parliament House
Rum Hospital to Parliament tells the story of New South Wales Parliament House and its evolution from Sydney’s first general hospital to a modern parliamentary precinct that has seen 200 years of political life under its roof. Built in convict times in exchange for a monopoly on the colonial rum trade and initially condemned “to ruin”, the building has withstood centuries of adaptation and change to become the modern Parliament House it is today.
